The Plant Consists of Five Major Sections
The solvent extraction process involves extracting most of the oil from prepared raw material using counter-current extraction. The extracted meal is then transferred to a desolventizer toaster for solvent recovery. In the desolventizing section, the solvent is removed from the meal, and the desolventized material is conditioned by controlling temperature and moisture. Meanwhile, a mixture of oil and solvent, known as Miscella, is obtained in the extractor. The rich miscella is collected and pumped to a distillation column, where it is heated under vacuum to turn hexane into vapor. The concentrated miscella undergoes further steps, including oil preheating and stripping, to remove any remaining solvent. Additionally, a recuperation system recovers solvent traces from outgoing vapor.
